Demcon to develop systems for the energy transition

Technology developer and producer Demcon is working on the energy transition with the ambition to make a contribution to the enormous challenge that we all face. On the basis of its broad experience with system-based thinking and mechatronic product design, Demcon will develop solutions for efficient and renewable energy systems. Demcon enters the defense & security market.

Technology developer and producer Demcon serves a large number of markets ranging from high-tech and smart industry to the medical and agriculture & food sectors. This strong, growing company is now adding defense & security to this. ‘We intend to deploy technology for a safer world and to help defense organizations innovate,’ CEO Dennis Schipper explains. ‘The high-quality systems and products we develop can increase the effectiveness of security operations, for example.’ The very first product presented by Demcon is the E-Lighter, a compact power generator that operates on the diesel used in ordinary vehicle engines. The E-Lighter can help unburden military personnel in the field by removing the need for carrying the many backup batteries used for their electronic devices. Demcon recently signed a contract with the Defense Equipment Organization for the further development and optional production of this unique device.

TNO & Demcon to provide enabling technology for the world’s largest telescope.

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is creating the world’s largest telescope. It has selected TNO to provide a key enabling technology that will allow the telescope to produce better views of the universe than have ever been possible. In the project, TNO will collaborate with Demcon Focal as a major sub-contractor. With the help of TNO’s laser guide star launch telescope technology, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) will provide insight into some of the greatest astronomical questions of our time, from the birth of stars to the search for signs of life on exoplanets in other star systems.

Demcon invests in Alia Instruments: ‘From nuclear to non-nuclear’

The dream of safe, radiation-free measuring has come closer for sectors such as the dredging industry, tunnel construction, mining and metal recycling, due to an investment by Demcon. In these sectors, radioactive radiation traditionally provides the basis for densimeters used to measure slurries. A slurry is an abrasive material, such as sand, pebbles, gravel or ore, to which water has been added for transport. Alia Instruments has developed an alternative; a non-nuclear densimeter that is more reliable and safer for people and the environment. Demcon, a technology development and production company, recently acquired a share in this company. This helps Alia Instruments in further developing the radiation-free sensor towards production, and marketing it on the international market. “We are part of the transition from nuclear to non-nuclear.”
